Frequently Asked Questions

How many treatments does it take to remove a tattoo?

On average, most patients need 5 to 10 treatments for complete removal. Patients with old or faded tattoos may only need up to 3 or 4 treatments. That being said, the removal process is different for every patient. Depending on a variety of factors, our Riverview studio will best determine the number of treatments your unique tattoo will need to achieve your desired results. These factors include: tattoo size, tattoo age, tattoo location, patient health, pre-existing scarring, quality of ink (professional vs. amateur), density of ink, and depth of ink.

How long does the tattoo removal process take?

Tattoo removal sessions are scheduled 6 to 8 weeks apart to give your skin enough time to heal between sessions. This waiting period is put in place for your skin’s safety but can fluctuate depending on how quickly your skin heals.

Does the laser hurt?

Pain levels may vary depending on your pain tolerance. Most patients describe the laser sensation as a rubber band snapping against the skin. Laser tattoo removal treatments are very quick and last anywhere from 1 to 20 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo being treated and the number of tattoos being treated. Majestic Eye Tattoo Company provides skin numbing solutions to help ease any discomfort and alleviate your skin.

Are there any side effects?

Laser tattoo removal is clinically proven to be the safest method for removing unwanted ink. Our Astanza Duality is FDA-approved and is designed to selectively treat your tattoo without harming the surrounding skin tissue. The most common side effects that patients may experience are redness, swelling, itchiness, blistering, scabbing, and pigmentation changes.

These minor side effects are temporary and heal over the weeks following treatment. As long as patients properly care for their skin after each treatment, they will see great results. Majestic Eye Tattoo Company will provide you with a detailed aftercare instruction sheet to take home.

How much does laser tattoo removal cost?

Our Riverview studio provides affordable pricing based on the size of the tattoo being treated and the number of treatments needed to achieve your desired result. We also provide special discounts and treatment packages to save you more.

Can you lighten my tattoo for a cover-up?

Yes! Not only can we remove tattoos, but our laser is the perfect solution for patients preparing for a cover-up. Cover-ups are a great way to deal with unwanted ink, however, most cover-up designs have to be designed around the existing artwork. This means more ink, usually dark ink, and larger designs. Fading a tattoo with laser tattoo removal can create a lighter canvas for an artist to work on, give you more flexibility with your design, and also allow the incorporation of more colorful inks. Only a few treatments are needed for optimal fading. Majestic Eye Tattoo Company can connect you with one of our talented cover-up tattoo artists after your laser treatment!

Can you remove just a specific part of my tattoo?

Definitely! Do you want to selectively remove text or shading from your tattoo? Our laser uses a flat top homogenized spot beam to precisely target a portion of your tattoo while leaving the surrounding ink intact.

Aftercare Tips

Majestic Eye Tattoo Company uses advanced laser technology and customized safety protocols to deliver the best treatment for your skin. However, the healing process and aftercare are just as important as the treatment itself. Proper aftercare helps fight unwanted infection and more serious side effects, like scarring, from occurring. We will provide you with take-home instructions for proper aftercare after your treatment. Below are a few aftercare tips to keep in mind.

  1. Keep the treatment site clean and dry during the healing process. Apply an antibiotic ointment and a sterile bandage to prevent unwanted infection.
  2. Every patient and tattoo is unique, therefore, every patient will experience different effects. Some might experience swelling, some might experience blistering, and others may have no side effects at all. All of these unique experiences are completely normal.
  3. Avoid soaking activities to prevent infection; this includes baths, hot tubs, pools, and other swimming activities. Showers may be taken as long as high-pressure water is not directly hitting the treatment site. Patients are advised to keep the tattoo covered with a sterile bandage during their shower, then replacing the bandage with a sterile one. Always pat to dry and make sure to apply an antibiotic ointment before bandaging the tattoo.
  4. Apply a cold compress if you experience swelling or discomfort. Tylenol and ibuprofen can be taken for pain relief but aspirin and naproxen should be avoided as they can lead to bruising and/or bleeding.
  5. Blistering is extremely common, although unsightly in appearance. All blisters to heal naturally or “pop” on their own. Do not interrupt the healing process by forcefully popping any blisters that form. Doing so can lead to infection and unwanted side effects. Keep all blisters clean, apply an antibiotic ointment, and cover with a sterile bandage.
  6. Do not pick any scabs that form. This may result in infection and scarring. Allow scabs to heal and flake off naturally.
  7. Avoid excessive sun exposure throughout the tattoo removal process. Protect your skin with an SPF 25 or higher and wear appropriate clothing to protect the treatment site.
  8. If you experience any adverse side effects, please contact our office immediately.
